In the system of complex rehabilitation of children with disorders of psycho-physical development, we use the Montessori method, which has a therapeutic orientation and that’s why it’s called Montessori therapy.

Montessori therapy promotes the development of children's intellectual, sensory, and motor spheres, develops independence, self-control, and effectively forms school skills. In the process of using Montessori therapy, the child's motivational sphere and personality are formed, which ensures his social adaptability in the surrounding environment. 

Classes with the child according to the Montessori method and their number for the rehabilitation period are appointed by the rehabilitation commission. 

For children 3 - 6 years old, the Montessori method provides individual classes lasting 15 - 20 minutes (depending on the child's condition, concentration of attention and behavior). The child's parents can be present at the lesson to practice the acquired skills with the child at home. 

The classes are conducted by a teacher-rehabilitator who has a certificate for working with children from 3 to 6 years old using the Montessori method. 

Classes are held in a specially organized subject-spatial environment, divided into several zones, namely: "Practical life skills", "Sensorics", "Mathematics", "Language development", "Space zone", as well as a zone for the development of creative abilities and small motor skills.

Both original and adapted Montessori materials, wall modules, natural materials, tabletop and didactic games are used to work with children. 

Corrective tasks of the program:

• development of concentration and volume of attention with concomitant improvement of the ability to switch and distribute attention;
• development of voluntary attention;
• memory development;
• development of auditory concentration and phonemic hearing;
• development of thinking, mental operations (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, classification);
• development of fine motor skills of the fingers;
• development of discipline, organization, volitional regulation, ability to act by example;
• improvement of communication skills, ability to work in a group. 

"Help me to do it myself" is the main motto of Maria Montessori's pedagogical system. The essence of the technique is to help the child become independent, which means independent, to find those "growth points" that are not affected by the disease and from which a gradual ascent to development can begin.
