Outreach Work of the Early Intervention Team in the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske Community
As part of the project by the international organization Save the Children, “Accessible Services for Children: Increasing Access to Early Intervention for Young Children and Their Families through the Development of Mobile Multidisciplinary Teams in Communities of the Chernihiv Region,” and at the invitation of the Head of the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske Settlement Council and the Director of the Municipal Non-Commercial Enterprise “Centre for Social Services,” the multidisciplinary early intervention team of the regional Revival Centre — consisting of a neurologist, speech therapist, psychologist, and physical therapist — visited children in the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske community on May 13 in order to assess whether their development corresponds to age-related milestones and to identify support needs at an early stage.
Visits by the early intervention team to families in local communities are a key component of this service, which is based on the principle of supporting the child within their familiar environment.
During the meetings, parents had the opportunity to receive consultations regarding:
- child development according to age;
- speech, motor, and behavioral characteristics;
- emotional connection and interaction with the child;
- further steps in case developmental difficulties are identified.
Importantly, for young children, parents are the greatest resource. Therefore, the early intervention team works not only with the child, but with the entire family.
We thank the leadership of the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske community for their cooperation, openness, and care for the youngest residents. Together, we are creating a safe and supportive environment for every child.
